Politics and Religion?
There is one Golden Rule when drinking about conversations: don't talk about Politics or Religion. This rule was broken by a few of my friends on Saturday night. I knew right away to just stay out of it. But I did hang around and listen.
What I found out about why these are bad topics is that there are way too many opinions about them. Everyone has a strong opinion and concerning religion, very invested emotions and faith. When alcohol is added to those opinions and emotions, things can get heated.
I tend to be very open about religion. I see many points that people have. I think that having a closed mind about things unknown is not the way to see things. I don't want to get into all of my opinions here, all I am saying is I tend to explore many ideas about religion as theories and "well, what if this was true...?" thoughts about the subject.
But politics on the other hand, I have some strong opinions. I currently have a $100 bet on the Presidential Race because of my hard-headed opinions about the matter.
These two subjects can be Buzzkillers at parties or gatherings, and are not advisable. They tend to wrap up valuable hanging-out time and fun. And usually it whittles down to two people hashing out there opinions and many times people get angry with each other.
So I just thought I would throw that out there. This is not a commentary on Politics or Religion, more of an observation about alcohol and its interaction with these topics.
In other news, the Shawn boy is finally moved in.
